Drug sniffing dogs gave false alert on bag?

Police dogs randomly alerted on my backpack and the bag had nothing incriminating in it once police searched through it. I feel this is a violation of privacy/4th amendment? They never asked for consent. Do I need to be present when they decided to do the search? or is it my right to be present when they do the search? BTW I'm in WA.
